From Capt. Chris

The Adventure of a Lifetime Awaits

No crowded blinds. No beat-up hunting grounds. Out here there are no other trucks at the trailhead. No competing parties. No cell phone signal. It's just you, the wind coming off the Bering Sea and North Pacific, and country that hasn't changed since the Ice Age.

One price gets you everything. Caribou on the open tundra. Trophy Sea Ducks in the surf. Ptarmigan in the hills. Halibut and Rockfish over the rail. No add-ons. No upcharges. Hunt hard, fish harder, eat well, and sleep warm.

The Caribou meat is some of the finest you'll ever cook. The fishing is world class. And the Sea Ducks out here are species most hunters only see in magazines. This is the far edge of America, and not many hunters ever make it out. The ones who do go home with the trophy, the meat, and a story nobody back home is going to believe.

What's Included

Four Hunts. One Price. One Roof.

Why Adak

No Bears. No Bugs.
No Crowds. No Other Full Service Lodge.

Adak lies farther west than Honolulu, at the ragged edge of the Aleutians. It's a WWII-era Navy outpost the wilderness has quietly taken back. Out here, Caribou outnumber people roughly fifty to one. A retired military captain meets you at the airport and turns you loose on country few hunters ever lay eyes on.

And when the Caribou hunt wraps up, there's still a whole island to explore. Chase Halibut and Rockfish offshore, fish the creeks and lakes for Salmon and Dollies, hike to waterfalls no guidebook mentions, walk the ghost runways and bunkers of the old base, or throw the decoys and hunt Sea Ducks and puddle ducks until the tide turns.

If there's a better combo hunting and fishing adventure in Alaska, I've never heard of it.

Barren Ground Caribou

Alaska Caribou Hunting: Barren Ground Bulls on Adak Island

I'm a licensed Caribou Transporter, Sport-Fishing Guide, and Waterfowl Guide, and this island has been my backyard for years. Our Caribou success rate runs over 90%, and it's no accident.

The herd lives mostly on the wild south side of Adak, so we'll load the gear and run down the coast aboard my USCG-approved boat. From there, it's boots on the tundra. A few days of spike camping, glassing ridgelines, and working the wind until you're standing over a bull you'll never forget. This isn't a drive-up hunt. It's the real deal, the way Caribou hunting was meant to be.

Season & Tags

Bull Caribou Season: August 10 – December 31

Cow Caribou: Open year-round. It's basically an either-sex hunt.

Non-Residents: Allowed two Caribou with two locking big game tags ($650 each).

Residents: Same 2 Bull limit, but Cow Caribou are unlimited. A great way to fill the freezer.

How It Works

You will be taken by boat and dropped off in a good spot of your choosing (map of possible landing sites at the Lodge) for usually 2–3 days. Once you have tagged out, contact me by inReach or satellite phone and I'll come get you.

Bring your own camping gear and dehydrated meals for your time in the field (typically 2–4 days). You are welcome to mail gear to the Lodge in advance of your trip, and mail it back using USPS. ISO-Butane (Jet Boil) and a variety of stove fuels are available and provided.

Meat Processing

Once back at the Lodge you can do all your game processing using our Vac Master Chamber Sealer, cleaning stations, and freezers.

You are REQUIRED to harvest ALL edible game meat here in Alaska. This includes the quarters, backstraps, tenderloins, rib meat, and neck meat.

If you don't wish to take your meat home, we can donate it to needy local families.

Waterfowlers

Alaska Sea Duck Hunting: Fully Guided Waterfowl Hunts

Waterfowl season is October 8 – January 22. Adak delivers one of the most diverse Bird lists in North America.

Deep Sea Fishing

Adak Island Halibut Fishing: Deep-Sea Charters for Halibut, Cod & Rockfish

Deep sea fishing is included in your 7-day all-inclusive combo trip, and the fishing out here is nothing like what you get in the Lower 48. We're talking Halibut that'll bend your rod in half, Cod that fill a cooler in one pull, Rockfish with colors you have to see to believe, and Lingcod that fight the whole way up. This is not your typical stringer line. Our stringers are 50-gallon trash cans.

When you're not chasing Caribou or Waterfowl, we head offshore on my USCG-approved vessel and put you on fish. We also have creek fishing, lake fishing, and Salmon when they're running. You never run out of options on Adak.

Chris was a highly experienced and excellent Captain and Outfitter, Barb took great care of us; our lodging and cooked homemade meals three times a day, and Ben, man, Ben is a duck-master-guide... The Lodge

Clean, Comfortable & Well Fed

When you're not out on the tundra or offshore, you're home. The Lodge is clean, warm, and comfortable, with private rooms, a full kitchen, and plenty of space to spread out, swap stories, and put your feet up by the fire.

My wife Barb runs the kitchen, and nobody leaves this table hungry. Three home-cooked meals a day, hot coffee before first light, and a plate waiting no matter what time the boat gets back in. Meals and drinks at the Lodge are included. (BYOB. Alcohol is available on Adak, but it's expensive and the selection is thin.)

I'm retired military, and this Lodge runs the way I like things run: squared away, on time, and taken care of. Veterans, families, and folks who've never been north of the Lower 48 are all welcome. We'll meet you at the airport, get you sorted with your gear, and have you on the water or in the hills the next morning.

Pro tip: Get the Alaska Airlines credit card. You can fly free your first trip on the sign-up miles. You also get a $99 companion ticket annually so you can split a ticket with a buddy at half price. It's an expensive ticket (~$1,400), so the card helps.
